Milton Residence
The original 1950’s Santa Monica tract house was remodeled in a contemporary style with a second story Master Suite and Family Room added. The existing interior spaces were reconfigured to allow the spaces to flow together and open up to the new deck and backyard. Wood doors and windows, bamboo floors and a limestone fireplace give a warm and elegant feeling to the spaces. The house was designed to take advantage natural cooling and ventilation of the ocean breezes by window placement and the use of the stair shaft as a heat chimney. Energy efficiency was increased by the installation of new windows, doors, increased insulation, energy efficient lighting and Energy Star rated appliances and equipment. The interior work was done using sustainable, non-toxic materials and finishes for a healthy environment.
