Surfwood Residence

This 1960’s house in Malibu was originally built as a series of small enclosed spaces and had been neglected for decades. The house was demolished down to the wood framing and completely rebuilt with the addition of a Master Bedroom Suite. The floor plan was reconfigured to allow the Living, Dining, Kitchen and Family areas to flow into each other and open to the yards and views of the Pacific. New large wood doors, windows and skylights bring in natural light and ventilation. The interior spaces are clean and simply detailed with wood and stone finishes to give a felling of warmth and elegance. Energy conservation was increased by the use of energy efficient products, construction techniques and equipment. Landscape design by Derrek Stewart Landscape Design Build.
